I have just been snorkelling over the Great Barrier Reef. (Not all of it: it's 1,600 miles long). And I can now officially confirm that it's doing just fine. The fish and corals are in excellent shape. Not one of the bits I investigated showed any signs of a) overheating due to global warming, b) dissolving due to ocean acifidication or c) collapsing in despair at man's selfishness, greed and refusal to amend his lifestyle.

Who'da thunk, eh?

But this didn't, of course, stop our snorkel guide slipping in global warming, as a matter of course – a bit like when in the old days Christians used to say grace before dinner – into his introductory talk. Nor did it stop the craft on which we travelled, spewing, to…

There's a great scoop in The Australian today about more lying climate scientists making stuff up.

CLAIMS that some of Australia's leading climate change scientists were subjected to death threats as part of a vicious and unrelenting email campaign have been debunked by the Privacy Commissioner.

Timothy Pilgrim was called in to adjudicate on a Freedom of Information application in relation to Fairfax and ABC reports last June alleging that Australian National University climate change researchers were facing the ongoing campaign and had been moved to "more secure buildings" following explicit threats.
Needless to say the University did everything it could to prevent the investigation, arguing that the release of the climate scientists' emails (why am I getting an eerie sense of deja vu here?) "would or could reasonably be expected to…endanger the…

Today is ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. It seems an appropriate time to reflect on what Australia was and what it has become. (Sorry Kiwis: can't comment on you this time, though I wish I could. Please forgive me for not coming this time – especially you, Josie Jackson, my Official Biographer and Kiwi wunderkind).

I said the other day what a marvellous achievement it was, the way those early generations of Aussies turned a relentless hell into a fair approximation of paradise on earth. What I see now, however, is a fair proportion of the current generation doing their damnedest to reverse the process.

You can't move a car to a different state without having to submit it to about A$ 400 worth of checks to make sure it's roadworthy….

So let joy be unconfined that one of the archest of the world's arch Greenies – James Lovelock, inventor of the Gaia hypothesis and therefore, more or less, founder of the world's most powerful modern religion – has come clean and admitted that he got it wrong in his doomsday predictions about "Climate Change."

Well, come almost clean.

I can't say there has been quite as much wailing and lamentation and as breast-beating as I would have liked. Here's what he has said in in his retraction in an interview with MSNBC.
“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some…

A week into my Australian tour and I already I love the country and its people so much I could happily stay here forever. (Articles like this and this and this may partly explain why.) There's just one small problem – well, one bloody big problem actually: the rampaging political correctness. How, in God's name, did the robust, no-nonsense pioneer spirit of the original settlers who carved an earthly paradise out of burning hell allow itself to be watered down, warped and wimpified by a minority of tofu-knitting greens and tight-sphinctered lefties?

Let me give you one example. (Plenty more will follow, let me assure you, for Oz is the land of Political Correctness and Eco Fascism gone mad. Traditional Owners, anyone???)…

No I don&#8217;t buy the line that &#8220;If you&#8217;ve nothing to hide you&#8217;ve got nothing to be afraid of.&#8221; No I don&#8217;t believe that allowing nameless authorities to spy on our private communications will prevent another Soham or another 7/7. On the contrary, I think giving the state more power over our last bastion of free speech and free ideas will only serve to threaten our security and our liberty, not protect it. And I&#8217;m frankly amazed that any MP would wish his or her name to be associated with the push for this tyrannical, Big Brother charter. That&#8217;s why I Tweeted yesterday to ask whether anyone knew which of our politicians had been behind…</p>

OK, so you're a BBC/Channel 4/CNBC commissioning editor. Or you're maybe in charge of the selection panel for the Sundance Film Festival. Or you're a feature writer for the New York Times and you're wondering which pieces of gag-making worthiness to big up next. Which of these projects are you going to choose:

1. The one about the alleged victim of a racist miscarriage of justice.

2. The Occupy-style critique of Western Industrial civilisation.

3. The movie singing the praises of evil capitalist devil fuel, shale gas.

Well, obviously, it's a no brainer. The first two get funding and attention and the third one gets ignored completely. It's the way of the world. That's how the liberal MSM exerts its grip on the culture – and has done since at least the days of Gramsci.

But, wait, what's this? Could it possibly…
