The Yorkshire moorland that inspired Wuthering Heights is about to be blighted by nine 377ft wind turbines, each one the height of Salisbury Cathedral.

Do you need to be a rabid, bat-crazy, monomaniacal, classical liberal loon to find this upsetting? I hope not, I really do. The vandalisation of Ovenden Moor, near Haworth, in the heart of Brontë country should concern us all, regardless of which way we vote or what newspaper we read.

Caring greenies ought to be dismayed by the widespread environmental havoc it will wreak: the kestrels it will slice and dice, the protected bats it will cause to implode, the huge concrete bases, the poisonous rare earth minerals mined under the most atrocious conditions in China. Bookish Left-leaning wimmin in glasses with large, red plastic frames ought surely to be concerned by the…

    Never mind all this political scandal and so-called NIMBY questions, what about the carbon footprint /economic case. Take into consideration (1) the enormous carbon foot print and cost of manufacturing and installing these machines, (2) The inefficiency of performance, (3) the need for coal, or similar, fired back-up, (4) the imposition of subsidies on tax payers and/or consumers, (5) the enormous carbon footprint when they are scrapped and (6) the carbon and economic cost of recycling them.     By 30 September 2012, there had been 1292 windfarm accidents of which 96 slaughtered people; in all 125 people have been massacred by wind farms so far.

    “By far the biggest number of incidents found was due to blade failure. “Blade failure” can arise from a number of possible sources, and results in either whole blades or pieces of blade being thrown from the turbine.”

    From 1948-2009, NOAA data show a 1% decrease in measured atmospheric humidity (for the full depth of the atmosphere), which is equivalent to a 26% fall in CO2 (because water vapour has 26 times more influence as a greenhouse gas than CO2 does). Therefore, the 25% increase in CO2 during that period has been cancelled out by the fall in water vapour during that same period.

    Think of a greenhouse with CO2 injected into it. It gets hotter. Now imagine one with 71% area covered by water, and a roof over 15,000 feet high that can contain cloud cover! The water now evaporates when it warms slighty due to the CO2, and clouds form as a result when the humid air absorbs infrared radiation from the sun and rises bouyantly into it meets cool air high up. The cirrus clouds formed then cut off (attenuate) the infrared radiation, which no longer reaches the low altitude where most of the CO2 lies. So the cloud cover is an automatic self-regulating thermostat that kicks in with “negative feedback” to cancel the effects of injecting CO2.

    Earth’s 71% ocean area climate is in effect already saturated with water vapour, which is 26 times more powerful as greenhouse gas as CO2. Injecting CO2 provably (see Dr Roy Spencer’s peer-reviewed but IPCC-censored papers on “negative feedback” from water opposing CO2) precipitates water vapour into cirrus cloud droplets, which increases cloud cover, shadowing and cooling the earth below.

    The crux of your argument on the global warming fallacy, is citing the George c Marshall institute. This right wing think tank are the same snake oil salesmen that worked for the tobacco companies in the affirmation that tobacco does not cause lung cancer.

    Seems when i said this on twitter, Delingpole blocked me. Wondering whether the truth is too inconvenient for you to debate??? Do you realise that 80% of sea ice minimum has been lost. This means instead of white ice reflecting the suns heat, there is black water sucking the heat in. The ice will disappear in 5 years time.

    The reason for over 20 years of disinformation is the mega corporations want to make more money without climate responsibility.

    We are moving more earth now than all the rivers on this planet. And you say that global warming is not happening?

    Mr Delingpole, have you got any kids? You are doing them a grave injustice to them and their kids.

    Simon, if you read Delingpole’s “Watermelons” (2012 ed, pages 101-102), you will see the revelance of the smoking-cancer delusion scare-mongering lies. I hate smokers and have never smoked, but the fact is, the cancer risk from smoking shows a THRESHOLD!

    Delingpole explains that James Enstrom and and Geoffrey Kabat analysed three decades of American Cancer Society data from 1959-89, tracking passive smoking by 118,000 Californians. Second hand “passive smoking” even prolonged in smoke filled homes day after day, caused no significant risk of cancer. The American Cancer Society and Tobacco Related Disease Research Program simply ended their funding.

    This is similar to what has happened to Dr Roy Spencer and others who published data refuting AGW lies. E.g., H2O as vapour is provably 26 times stronger as a greenhouse gas than CO2, and the fall in H2O vapour cancels out the increase in CO2, see http://vixra.org/pdf/1211.0156v1.pdf

    Hi Nige,

    I’m all for anything that will reduce carbon emissions. Wind turbines are a sticking plaster for what has been an ignored issue since the late eighties. The tipping point where the earth will heat up uncontrollably is coming ever closer.

    Haven’t read Delingpoles book, no need as I know his motives. I can only look at who he writes for and the crap he spouts on twitter. I have been blocked by him, for no other reason than I asked questions that made him uncomfortable. If his arguments are on such solid ground, why would he engage me?

    I did however listen to Delingpole on Richard Bacon’s rasdio show when he was promoting watermelons. Sadly Mr Bacon was un-prepared for Delingpoles citing of employees of the george c marshal institute. For one he cited Dr. Richard Lindzen. Who is a long term member of the george c marshal institute. These right wing crackpots are there only to keep the money rolling in for huge corporations, by injecting FALSE assertions on issues that may affect their share price.

    One which is a crime against humanity is the cigarette and cancer link. The george c marshal institute was funded by the tobacco to refute this link. With their help millions of people died from cancer due to this. With an agenda that was nothing more than make more money out of suffering.

    The global warming denial was again injected and promoted by the george c marshal institute. The petroleum companies were funding this. For example they would refute peer reviewed paper and say this one is 1% different to this paper. So it can’t be true.

    As a father of 2 I am powerless to anything that these people are spouting. As mentioned before how can they look their kids in the eyes and say they did the best for their future. Fact is they are making their futures uncertain at best.

There is no significant carbon emission: 97% of the annual release of carbon dioxide is from non-human animals and sealife, according to the 1997 IPCC report, see page 15 of http://vixra.org/pdf/1211.0156v1.pdf Each year, 771 gigatons of carbon is emitted by animals and sealife, compared to only 29 gigatons from human activities!     So passive smoking does not cause cancer. Your assertion is frankly potty. Just to debunk your journal…. James Enstrom and and Geoffrey Kabat’s studies (which were debunked by the BMA) were funded by Philip Morris! What are Philip Morris doing at the moment, forking out millions in compensation.

    Show me a PEER reviewed paper that refutes global warming. Not hyperbole funded by mainly oil corporations with a political agenda.

    You will be searching long and hard. Because it doesn’t exist.

    This is the evidence that the fall in water vapour since 1948 cancels out the increase in CO2, leaving just cosmic rays to vary temperature via the temperature (by the well-proved nuclear physics tool, the “Wilson cloud chamber” mechanism for high altitude cirrus cloud).

    Show me a peer-reviewed paper which REFUTES James Enstrom and and Geoffrey Kabat’s studies, and note that the BMA is a lefty trade Union of Stalinists who lied about nuclear weapons effects in their 1983 report.

    I’ve always said that the South Pole, among the lefty penguins, is the ideal spot for wind turbines (and cheap ice-cold food surplus mountain storage depots). Just don’t put them north of the equator.

    Don’t worry about these monsters Jim. After a year or so they will become statues to green energy utopianism – when they have killed all the local bird life with their blades and chased other fauna out of the region ans damaged people and livestock with their low frequency pulses, and the maintainence costs outstrip the power out put, they will stop using them. We have thousands of these monuments to green kleptomania standing idle in Canada. They no longer blight the wild life and local livestock but we are still paying for them through our electric bills. When klepto-socialism finally falls to the economic chaos it has created, these monuments will finally serve a useful purpose – to remind us, “never again”.
